Man Surrendering At Jail Found To Be Intoxicated

A Good Springs man who surrendered himself at the local jail Monday night was found to be intoxicated.

Reports show that Dylan Houston Burgess, age 22, of 1190 Powell School Road, Good Springs came to the Lawrence County Detention Center shortly after 11:00 p.m. He told officers he was wanted on a violation of probation warrant and was there to turn himself in.

Officers noted that Burgess had a strong odor of alcohol about his person and that he exhibited signs of being intoxicated. When they asked him how much he had drunk that night, he told them he had consumed, “Several beer.”

Burgess was booked on the violation of probation charge. Due to the fact that he was in a public place, in public view while extremely intoxicated, Burgess was also booked on a charge of public intoxication.

Burgess is scheduled to answer the charges in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 6, 2013.
